PRIDE was designed in 1953 by David Mellor while still a student at the Royal College of Art. It was one of the first Design Council Award Winners in 1957 and is an acknowledged modern classic. PRIDE silver plate is plated with an ultra heavy plating deposit of 40 microns, well in excess of the British Standard BS5577** - the standard for 50 year plate.

This version of PRIDE is available with white or black handled knives made from acetal resin, a tough, dishwasher safe material which will stand the test of time like all David Mellor cutlery. These white and black handled knives have the additional advantage of reducing the price of sets of PRIDE. The pattern is also available elsewhere on this website in silver plate with silver plate handled knives, and also in sterling silver and polished stainless steel.

Standard sets are based on the 7 piece place set which consists of a table knife, table fork, soup spoon, dessert knife, dessert fork, dessert spoon and tea spoon. All pieces can be purchased individually and sets can be made up to suit personal requirements.

In addition there is a 24 piece starter set consisting of 6 x table knives, table forks, dessert spoons and tea spoons.
